FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR WEALTH & HELLBEING CLIENTS
Can I talk with the designer before they work on my artwork?
Of course! It’s always a pleasure to talk with each clients about their specific project. It helps us gain a personal perspective on what we’re going to create for you. You can contact us by phone or if you live in South East QLD we can arrange a meeting in person. For our clients in other areas of the world, if it’s too difficult talking by phone or in person don’t worry, it is not essential. We can still create a fantastic result for you communicating via email or for JNP recording artists we use can use the JNP forum.
Will you listen to my music before beginning the artwork?
Absolutely! We love to listen to our clients music before we start designing. It’s a very important part of the process through which which get to know musically who you are. Your music will enhance our ability to design for you and help inspire a visual representation from what we hear. Our principal graphic artist is also a recording musician – so we truly can relate to your process. Please feel free to send us a link to where we can hear your music.
How long until I can see my first design proof?
Design proofs generally take between 2-6weeks to create from when we have collected all necessary information and materials. Even though we are a busy design studio we treat each and every project with special care and due priority. On the occasion that there are other clients ahead of you in the queue, we will always let you know, and to our best to estimate an accurate starting date for your project so that you can still plan ahead.
How much time does it take to complete my artwork?
Timelines depend on how quickly communication flows, how many changes and revisions are made, and how many clients we are currently servicing. Completion of the entire album art design process (including any photography, logo design and layout for print) can take between 1-2 weeks to format from the date that you approve the final proofs. Timelines are not guaranteed. Rush jobs are available for an additional fee.
Can my website, myspace and merchandise match the artwork?
Yes! Be sure to mention any other creative services you might be looking for to make the most of your new artwork. If we know what you might want, now or in the future, we can discuss the possibilities with you and help you plan ahead!
Do you offer refunds if I don’t like the final result?
Unlike a product, we sell a service. Our time and effort invested cannot be refunded, therefore we do not offer refunds on projects that have already begun. We haven’t yet had a client who didn’t like the final result!
Can you whip up a cover to see if we like it?
No. We do not do spec work. If you like the work in our portfolio there’s an excellent chance that you’ll love what we create for you. We’re professionals, trust us do the best for you.
I’m an artist and/or photographer. Can you use my drawings, artwork or photos in my album artwork?
Yes. As long you own the rights to the images you supply us with. Be sure to take the photos using your camera’s highest quality and resolution settings, do not resize or compress them. Scan art at a resolution of 300dpi and use either DropBox.com or YouSendIt.com to send us the files.
What types of payment options do you offer?
Payment in full for every project is required before work will commence.
Who owns the copyright to the finished design?
You will own the rights to all the works created to reproduce when, where and however you choose. We reserve the right to use any designs we create purely for the purposes of further promoting our services.
What type of packaging do you offer?
We design for almost any type of CD (and DVD) print packaging you can think of. For professional album, single and EP releases we recommend Digipak or Gatefold formats over the now clunky and old fashioned ‘jewel case’ packaging. If you want something a little more unique than the average release (special gloss or matt detailing, metallic foiling, die cut patterns, embossing, metal enclosures, etc) talk to us about it and we’ll let you know what we can do! We can also provide your artwork formatted for digital distributors like iTunes etc.
After the artwork is completed, where can it get replicated?
Through our print partner companies we provide CD replication, in small and large pressings to suit your requirements. Our printers ship worldwide! Talk to us about the print format and quantity you are after so we can organise a print quote for you. If you have your own printer organised all you need to do is supply us with their templates and specifications for your project’s format.
What if I don’t like what you’ve created?
You can review and ask for changes after each round of proofs. Some artists are happy with the first round, others take a few updates before they have everything the way they like it. During the revision process we will often offer advice with regard to what will or won’t work aesthetically from our experience. See the contract for additional details about revisions.
How will you know the style and idea of what I want designed?
In short – research, talent, experience and a little magic! Be sure to download and fill out our Visual Profile questionnaire (contact us and we’ll send it to you). This will help us to understand visually where you, your band and music are heading so graphic style we create for you will be the best possible reflection of your image. Make sure that all the details (including spelling) are correct and that everything is filled out completely to help avoid unnecessary revisions.
Where can I view my project proofs during the design process?
We will email you with a link to download jpeg or PDF proofs and revisions as they become available. If you already have a DropBox.com account, we can create a shared folder for you so you can view updates that way.
When the artwork is finished, how do I get it to the printer?
If you’re printing through us with one of our partner print companies, we will look after handing over your artwork to the printer. If you’re printing with a separate printer, provide us with their details and we can upload the finished print-ready files directly to them so that they can let us know if any formatting tweaks need to be made before pressing.
